How To Use Your Smudge Stick:
Hold the smudge stick downward at a 45-degree angle and light the end with a match or lighter and let it burn for about 20 seconds.
Once the end glows and flames appear gently tap your stick on your bowl to extinguish the flame or you can gently blow out the flame. Your smudge stick should then smolder and produce smoke. When blowing out the flame, make sure that hot embers do not fly everywhere as this can cause a fire.
Slowly walk around the room, using your hand or a feather to guide the smoke allowing it to waft around to cleanse your space. 
When you've finished, extinguish your smudge stick by pressing it into a fireproof bowl or shell until no more smoke rises.

Never leave a burning or smoldering smudge stick unattended for any reason and take care not to inhale to much of the smoke. When smudging with sage, it's important to use a fireproof bowl or shell to catch any ashes or embers.
Ensure your rooms are well-ventilated by opening a window or door in any rooms you plan to burn sage in before you begin to give the sage smoke, along with negative energy a way to leave your home. You want the smoke to cleanse, you don't want it to linger. Keep smudge sticks out of reach of children and pets.
